Dr. Mohamed Shama

Dr. Shama is an esteemed Assistant Professor of Endocrine Surgery at Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, LA. He earned his MD from Cairo University School of Medicine in 2002 and has since built a distinguished career in surgical oncology.

Dr. Shama spent nearly a decade at the National Cancer Institute, the largest cancer center in the Middle East, where he honed his skills in teaching and clinical practice. He also gained invaluable experience at Chung Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, one of the leading Head and Neck Cancer Centers in the Far East.

After moving to the United States, Dr. Shama completed a year of research at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. He then pursued a clinical fellowship in Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery at Harvard Medical School, followed by two years of specialized training in complex Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction through accredited AHNS fellowships at the University of Florida and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Upon completing his extensive training, Dr. Shama joined Tulane University as a full-time attending physician. He is a passionate mentor and a sought-after educator among medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Shama is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2008) and holds board certification in Surgical Oncology from the European Society of Surgical Oncology (2014)

Dr. Shama has been an independent Head and Neck Cancer Surgeon specializing in thyroid cancer for over 12 years.
