Dr. Emad Kandil

Dr. Kandil is a Professor of Surgery, the Elias Hanna Chair in Surgery and the Chief of General, Endocrine and Oncological Surgery Division at Tulane University Medical School, New Orleans, LA. He is also an executive member of the Tulane Cancer Executive Council and the director of the clinical Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at Tulane. He completed his training with a clinical fellowship in endocrine surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Emad Kandil serves as the chief of endocrine and oncological surgery at Tulane, and he is a passionate advocate of RFA for thyroid nodules. Dr. Kandil has trained in RFA outside of the United States, where the approach has been used for years in nodule treatment before FDA clearance here at home. He is the first specialist in the United States to complete more than 1000 cases Thyroid Ablation.

Dr. Kandil has written over 400 original articles, invited reviews and book chapters and served on numerous editorial boards. Dr. Kandil has a special interest in minimally invasive treatment options. He has the largest experience in the country with robotic endocrine surgery and has the largest experience in ablative procedures including radiofrequency ablation of thyroid , parathyroid and neck lymph nodes. He has lectured all over the world on topics related to radiofrequency ablation and endocrine surgery. Physicians from all over the world fly to New Orleans to attend his training courses and learn his techniques.
